Enhancing labour market opportunities for migrant women
Momentum
‘Breaking barriers, Momentum promotes access for migrant and refugee women to vocational training and labour market opportunities through the social economy.
Operating across five countries – Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Hungary – the programme leveraged international collaboration and gender-sensitive approaches to equip women with the skills and tools they need to thrive.

The briefing
Momentum was developed to tackle the challenges faced by migrant and refugee women in accessing the labour market. The briefing was to create a comprehensive EU-wide programme designed to equip the participants with essential skills, tools, and
connections, using vocational training and the social economy as key drivers. In addition, the two-year project aimed to foster collaboration between public entities, employers, training providers, and civil society, with the goal of building a scalable model for social and economic integration.
The strategy
To meet the needs of third-country national women, we devised a tailored strategic framework that offered holistic support. The strategy was built around three key pillars: identifying barriers and needs, designing vocational training that provided practical skills, and fostering valuable connections that would enable the participants to successfully navigate the labour market. By collaborating with partners from multiple countries and diverse fields of expertise, we developed a programme that was inclusive and gender-aware and highly responsive to the unique challenges faced by the beneficiaries.
